TYPHOID EPIDEMIC MODEL
This model was inspired when there was tsunami in Asia, especially in Aceh Indonesia, where 150.000 people died. An epidemic simulation of typhoid fever in one disaster area was made to see the possibility typhoid spreading in population. Typhoid fever is an infectious water borne disease caused by Salmonella typhii. The infected people will infect the others and possibly become complicated, recover or die. The setting on this simulation is on disaster area and there are three independent variables that give influence for possibllity become complicated or not. The variables are based on real data taken from Hasan Sadikin University of Padjadjaran Hospital Bandung Indonesia. Those are education level, level destruction (how is the sanitation and hygiene level) and humanitarian assistance (how is the assistance on post disaster area). The environment was taken from Aceh maps, Indonesia post tsunami. HOW IT WORKS
SETUP : to set the people and world environment
GO : to run simulation
LEVEL OF DESTRUCTION : The variable level of destruction, the highest is completely destroyed , lowest is no destruction.
HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE : The variable that support for recovering people like education level (they know how to prevent and first aid), health fascilities, rapid medical assistance and treatments.
EDUCATION : Education background tutles are, 1 (elementary), 2 (junior), 3 (senior), 4 (College)
PEOPLE : How many people want to be set in this population
CHANGE DISASTER AREA : Background image on disaster of Tsunami in Aceh Indonesia due to typhoid fever may become complicated on disaster area. But in this model there is no interaction between agent and patches. It will for next simulation based on empirical data based from Aceh and Yogyakarta Indonesia. HOW TO USE IT
1. Set "level destruction, humanitarian assistance, education, people" by arrange sliders.
THINGS TO NOTICE
During simulation, you can observe the differences in every simulation although your setting simulation is the same. THINGS TO TRY
You can try to change the slilders setting while simulation is running then observe what is going on. EXTENDING THE MODEL
This Typhoid epidemic model is still in one of disaster types (tsunami). In next model of Typhoid epidemic, we will add more complicated based on real databased from disaster area. CREDITS AND REFERENCES
This model typhoid epidemic on disaster is made to analyze the typhoid epidemic process so that can be used to assist epidemiologist to do simulations.
