## ## WHAT IS IT?
QuotaAbolition is a model with which effects of quota abolition on Dutch primary dairy sector can be assessed (Oudendag, 2013).

The model consists of the specialized dairy farms in the Netherlands completed with other farms having 20 or more dairy cows. The farmers are the agents in the model.

Due to the quota abolition some farmers might want to increase their production which will increase demand for land. On the other hand there will be farms who will want to stop for several reasons (both processes are modelled stochastic). This creates an extension of the current market for land. Now farms will interact on the "market" with other (dairy) farms for land under certain restrictions.

“Amount of land is more or less related to number of dairy cows as it can be used for fodder and declining manure surplus"

Farms interact with their environment in a sense that farmers can be restricted in their expansion as they might be located near or nearby nature areas.
In the original model base year was 2006. In the current version the model starts at 2013.

Besides structural changes like change in farm intensity, change in milk production and so on, the model also shows the effect on manure production and manure surplus. Therefore the model can easily be extended with effect on greenhouse gas emissions related to manure.

## ## HOW IT WORKS
Data is not provided due to privacy (farm data) and distribution issues.
Therefore the model cannot run on someone else his or her computer.
